Emily Vera Faulkner

She was born in 1919 a month before her parents, Eliza Barker and Henry Faulkner, were married. Like her elder sister, Ethel, she initally trained as a sewing machinist but during the second world war she worked in a factory as a motor engine fitter.

During the war she met her future husband 'Jack' Alexander who was an anti-aircraft gunner stationed in Wembley. They were married in 1945. They rented a house in Kingsbury where she lived for the rest of her life, close to her mother who she looked after. She died of cancer in 1976.

She is buried in Carpenders Park, near Watford.
